Prewrite:
The #1 space warrior, called “Cyberknife” from the planet Cerberus, was sent on a mission to travel to and destroy the Earth. Though the quest didn’t go as smoothly as it should, because he met people that changed his views of Earth. After receiving a message from his boss about the mission, he decided to persuade his boss to not destroy the Earth. But because there was no reason the number 1 space warrior should protest against their boss, and for Earth should be spared, the mission still proceeded with even more warriors arriving to keep an eye on Cyberknife. Now, Cyberknife has to choose between his own kind, or the lovely people he met on Earth. This was a really hard decision for him to make because he would have to choose a side. He was always trained to be emotion less and to follow orders with his own kind, but when he came to Earth, everything was lively and he felt emotions for the first time. So, he decides to save the Earth with everything he has.
During the prewriting stage, I've to come up with an idea of my story and try to add as much details as possible without spoiling the story too much. I am very happy with the results because the story also fits well with my website.
Chapter 1: The Beginning
It was another boring day for Cyberknife, when suddenly he got a message from his boss saying he had a new mission for him. Cyberknife travels to the headquarters to receive his new mission; he enters the headquarters and felt eyes on him. Of course, people would notice his presence since he was the #1 space warrior after all.
He goes up the elevator, knocks on his boss’s door, and says, “Hello sir, this is Cyberknife, may I come in?” “Come in,” he heard. He opens the door and goes up to his boss’s desk, salutes, waits for him to speak. “I want to know more about this planet called ‘Earth’, go and investigate it and while your at it, destroy the Earth and report back to me,” the boss says. Cyberknife thought about how it was a difficult task and would take a while to accomplish, but before he could say anything, the boss says, “Now, I know that this is a very difficult task, but I know that you can do it with flawlessly, you’re the #1 space warrior after all.”
Cyberknife stays silent, and the boss continues, “You will also be rewarded a large amount of money, or anything that you want.”
Cyberknife knew that he couldn’t refuse this mission now, his reputation would be boosted by a lot, and he was sure everybody on Cerberus, the planet that he is on at this moment, would know who he was by now, he would also be able to get anything that he wants. Thus, he agreed to do the mission without knowing the events waiting for him.
Cyberknife returns to his home to prepare for the days ahead of him; he wouldn’t be able to come back home for at least a year.
He’ll have to be prepared for any scenario possible.
In the first chapter, I've introduced the main character and his environment, and how people view him to be able to make the reader understand a bit about how he got to where he is today in the story.
Chapter 2: The Launch
As the long days passed by like a swift wind, Cyberknife starts to become more nervous since the next day was the day of his journey to Earth. “This is the hardest mission I’ve ever done, no, that anyone had ever done!” he thought. “But doing this would benefit me a lot and I wouldn’t have to do any missions for a long time... Ok! This mission will be accomplished!” Hence, he went to sleep on this dreamless night.
As the sun rose from the horizon, everyone on Cerberus started to arise and prepare to see the big journey to Earth by none other than Cyberknife himself. Meanwhile, Cyberknife himself was beginning his final preparations before leaving his home and going to the launching site. It had been a while since he traveled that far away from Cerberus since the Earth and Cerberus were thousands of light-years apart.
He waited for the final preparations of the spacecraft to be finished, then heard someone say, “Cyberknife, the spacecraft is ready for launch, please enter the spacecraft in 5 minutes.” Cyberknife picks up his bags and heads to the spacecraft; once he was settled in, he signaled for the pilot to start the engine; he looked outside to see many people holding up a sign that wrote “Have a Safe Trip!” or “Have a Successful Mission!” and so on.
“Preparation complete... ready for launch.”
The spacecraft started to fly away, and the cities out smaller and smaller; soon, he was able to see the whole of Cerberus and thought about how much he would miss his home planet, so he should finish this mission as soon as possible.
In the second chapter, I've written about the main character having an internal conflict with himself and trying to decide if he should accept the mission or not, this shows the reader that the mission that the main character was proposed was a really dangerous mission that not anyone, but the best can do.
Chapter 3: The Arrival
It’s been at least three days since he boarded the spacecraft. The trip would take about a week, which means that there were still four days until he would reach the Earth. During this time, Cyberknife would plan and ponder about what the living creatures and the environment there would look like, and he would also need to think about how he was going to destroy the Earth. Destroying planets after learning about them wasn’t a common task, Cyberknife thought for a while, “There must be something special about these creatures that might make them dangerous to us,” he thought, “Well whatever it is, it has to be destroyed no matter what, it is part of my mission after all.”
After that, he spends the remaining days collecting his thoughts and planning on what to do, as a professional should.
Finally, he could see the Earth on the horizon, a rocky, blue, and green world; it wasn’t like what he had imagined at all. “The dark side of this planet has... lights?” He was beyond shocked because he thought that the living creatures on this planet weren’t advanced, but boy, oh boy, was he wrong. He could see satellites, which means that the technologies of this civilization on Earth were only a few thousand years behind the ones in Cerberus, “Now I understand why the prize was so good and why they wanted the Earth destroyed,” he thought.
As they slowly approach the Earth and turn on the spacecraft’s invisible shield to avoid getting detected, they prepare for the landing.
They landed in an empty field with no civilization nearby. Cyberknife hypes himself up because he knew there was no going back now, “Thank you, have a safe trip back,” Cyberknife says to the captain of the spacecraft, “You too, have a successful mission.” With that, the spacecraft flies up and leaves the Earth undetected in a blink of an eye. Cyberknife looks around, observing his surroundings and taking notes on everything he sees. The landscape was nice, and the air was pure, the gravity on Earth was also a little bit similar to Cerberus, if not a little weaker, which means that he should be stronger than most living creatures here and can protect himself against harm easily, he also has advanced tools that can assist him with many things. He looks around again, trying to find a sign of civilization anywhere, then he spots a small village far away in the distance.
“This is going to be a long journey,” he thought to himself as he started to walk along the dirt road leading up to the distant village.
In this part of the story, I've lengthened it a bit to make it seem unrushed, though there can be much more to add.
Chapter 4: The Encounter
As he walked along the dirt road, he thought it was particularly hot during nighttime but ignored it and continued onwards. He was strolling mindlessly until an unfamiliar feeling hit him.
Was it tiredness?
He didn’t know; all he knew was that he wanted to close his eyes and rest. He could already see the lights and details of the village, and he was so close, yet so far. He pushed himself further and further until his legs started to give out and the world around him started to spin.
“I’ll just rest for a bit,” he thought before the world went dark.
Creak, clack.
He heard something open and the shuffling clothes, then two people whispering. He was beyond confused about what was happening, but he was still exhausted, so he tried to go back into his deep slumber.
Before he could go back to sleep, he heard, “How is he Phil? Is he doing alright?” then another voice said, “He’s just tired and passed out from exhaustion, nothing too serious. But now can you tell me who he is or how you found him? You just rushed in here without explaining anything Will.” He was actually kind of surprised since he didn’t know that they spoke in the same way.
They walked out of the room, and he heard the door close once again with a Clack sound. The voices of the two men started to fade away as they walked further away from his room, his tiredness got the better of him, and he fell back to sleep.
He once again was woken up by the sound of a door; he was fully charged up now, so he sprang up from the bed and stares at the figure in front of him. They seemed as surprised as he was, but then they asked him, “Sir are you alright? Does it hurt anywhere?” he tried to answer back with a ‘No,’ but his throat was too dry. The man realized this and rushed to get Cyberknife some water, he drank it and thanked the man.
There was an awkward silence until suddenly, the door flew open with a Thud, and another man appeared. “He’s awake! Are you ok? Wait can he even speak our English?” the man that suddenly appeared panicked. “Calm down Will, he can speak English even though his clothes are a bit weird,” replied the man he had awoken to.
Cyberknife tried to gather his thoughts and looked around the room as they talked. He looked at them and took note of the clothes they were wearing, the man he woke up to was wearing a green bucket hat with white stripes and a green robe, while the other man wore glasses and a yellow sweater, he took a mental note of that.
“Um... So, hi! Nice to meet you! I’m William, but you can also call me Will, and uhm... this is Phil, he was the one who took care of you when you were out cold,” the man in the yellow sweater introduced themselves to him. “Uh... hello, my name is Cyberknife...” replied Cyberknife, “Not much of a talker I see, well I know that you have a lot of questions, but before that, you need to eat something, you’ve been out for about 3 days, you must be hungry,” said Phil.
Cyberknife slowly reached out his hands, took the bowl of soup, and examined it. “That’s Phil’s specially made soup! I hope you can eat it, it’s delicious so eat up!” said Will. Cyberknife nods, but hesitantly lifts the spoon and blows on it before finally tasting it. His eyes widen and he starts gobbling up the soup and finishes the bowl with lightning speed.
“Woah slow down or you might get a stomach ache!” exclaimed Phil, “Your probably still hungry, I’ll go get more for you,” he continues.
Cyberknife is still skeptical about the two men, but he thinks that he can trust them. At first, the food seemed a bit weird because of how it was a liquid, but he must admit that it was really delicious and that he was treated really well compared to the people on Cerberus.
Though he wasn’t expecting to start off his mission like this, he’ll just have to go along with it until he recovers so that he can continue his investigation on this planet and finish as soon as possible.
During this part of the story, I've decided to write more and include sounds like the door creaking and imagery so that readers can understand and imagine the situation more. I wrote about the main character slowly but surely warming up to the new people around him and trusting them more when they've shown kindness to him. I've also checked over my grammar and punctuation to make sure that everything is correct.
Chapter 5: A New Environment
As the sun rises from the horizon, it indicates that it was the start of a new day. Cyberknife gets up, stretches, and walks out of the room to the living room. He was then surprised once he heard a door open behind him and stared at the man called Phil. Phil looked at him, surprised that he had woken up really early in the morning, but ignored it and asked, “Do you want to eat anything for breakfast?” Cyberknife nodded his head and sat down on a chair while examining the room, there were many decorations and many photos of Phil and Will, but there are other photos too that included a... teenage kid wearing a red shirt?
Before he could think farther, a plate was put in front of him, and he stared at the brownish layers of fluffy, sugary flour. “These are pancakes, you should try one, they’re really good!” said Phil; Cyberknife picked up a small piece and tasted it, his eyes lit up, and he began to devour this thing called “pancake.”
As he ate, he felt eyes on him, he looks up and sees Phil looking at him eat while smiling like he was happy that Cyberknife liked it. Cyberknife looked away, and his eyes landed on the photos again. Phil caught on pretty fast and said, “Those are pictures that we took whenever there were special occasions, like a party. The teenager in the middle is named Tommy, he is currently on a camping trip right now and will be back, umm, this evening I think.” Cyberknife just nods his head and continues eating his ‘pancake,’ then the door opens again, and Will appears and sits down at the dining table with them.
“Good morning, Will, how did you sleep last night?” asked Phil, “It was alright, my back was in a lot of pain though,” says Will, “How about you Cyberknife?” he continues, Cyberknife just gave him a thumbs up and continues eating. “By the way Cyberknife, do you currently have a place to stay right now? If not, you can stay with us until your all recovered and find a new place to stay,” suggested Phil. Cyberknife looks at them with a shocked expression because he didn’t think that they would let him do that. To be honest, he thought that he was going to get kicked out today. Cyberknife calms down and says, “Thank you. You are very kind.” The two men smiled at him and continued eating their breakfast.
“I think I forgot something...” Will says, and he took his time to gather his thoughts and thought for a bit. He continues, “Oh right! You probably still had some questions that needs to be answered. We were going to let you ask away yesterday, but we were way too tired to even keep our eyes open so we had to excuse ourselves and rest first, but today you can ask us to your heart’s content.”
After Cyberknife took some time to think about the questions, he asked them as much as possible without making him sound like he’s from a completely different galaxy, saying he was from a foreign ‘country’ instead. He gained a lot of new information about this strange planet, including the different kinds of creatures, food, and weather, but he knew that there was so much more for him to learn. While learning about the new environment he was in, he turned on the device around his wrist to record and listen to what was being said to him, which then sent the information back to Cerberus.
He plans to ask them as many questions as possible in the next few weeks he was going to stay here to recover.
In chapter 5, I've introduced a new character into the story that plays as big of a role to the other two characters later in the story when the main character has to choose sides. I've also added more space between each line to make the paragraphs look better and easier to read.
Chapter 6: The Move
A few months have passed by, and Cyberknife was getting used to the new environment around him.
He was sitting in the living room, watching a screen called a “TV,” that was playing something called a “movie.” He sat back and looked at the screen while drifting away in his thoughts.
He gained a lot of information during these past months, and he has also met Tommy, the boy with a red shirt in the picture he saw before. His first impression of the boy was that he was pretty tall for someone his age; he was lean and very energetic. “Honestly,” Cyberpunk thought, “That Tommy boy is really draining my energy each passing day because of all the questions I’m bombarded with.” Cyberpunk sighs and walks out of the house; he takes a breath of fresh air while strolling along the path. The Earth was so nice he actually almost forgot that he had a mission to do.
While walking down the road path, Cyberknife realized something; he realized that he couldn’t just stay here in this village forever since the people would be suspicious of him if he asked too many questions. It would make them suspicious because he might be asking about the simplest things that every human should know.
So, he makes up his mind to plan and take leave once the people start questioning him. Some questions that he asked also go unanswered because they are far out of their league for the villagers in this village. He would have to go somewhere with more people that could answer all his questions.
He opens his gadget on his wrists and scans the area for other civilizations, the device points in a direction with a dense population. He then rushed back to the house and asked Phil if there were any civilization nearby, in which he said, “Oh, you mean the city? There is one but it’s pretty far from here. Did you want to go there?” Cyberknife then replies, “Yes! There will be a lot of people there that can answer my questions, right?” To which Phil responds, “Yes, but it is easy to get lost in the city, so I’ll come with you, I also wanted to ask you about something I’ve been curious about.” Cyberknife freezes and keeps a straight face even though he is panicking mentally, “What if he found out that I’m from another planet somehow, what would I do?!”
Cyberknife shakes those thoughts out of his head, “No no no, that’s not possible, how could have he found out away? Get yourself together! Now’s not the time to be stressed about something like this. If I were caught, I could just move away or get rid of him and move on to other people,” he panics.
While Cyberknife was deep in his thoughts, he saw Will and Tommy show up in the room and Phil started to tell them about going to the city. “Hey Tommy and Will, me and Cyberknife won’t be here tomorrow morning, we’re going to the city so you’ll have to make your own breakfast~” Phil teased. They both were surprised since they don’t really go there because of how far it is from the village, so they asked at the same time, “Can we come with you?!” Phil chuckles, “You just want me to make your breakfasts, don’t you?!”
He didn’t really have many friends back at Cerberus since good friends are really hard to find when you have fame.
Cyberknife felt... happy while watching these three friends laugh and have fun together.
It would be a shame if something terrible were to happen to them...
Realization hit him like a train; he hadn’t felt extreme anxiety ever since he was a child, training harshly every day by his teacher to become stronger and put in fighting competitions with much older competitors.
Thus, their journey to the big city began.
In this part of the story, I've italicized the sentences that are the thoughts of the main character to make it easier for the reader to understand. I've also started to make the main character realize that his friends were all in danger, which will lead to the climax of the story later on.
